XDeep Zeos Wing System

The XDeep Zeos Wing System leverages technical evolution to help divers achieve perfectly flat, expert trim. By matching the cylinder's centre of gravity with the wing's buoyancy, this system significantly improves your stability. Consequently, you will enjoy better gas consumption, enhanced control, and much easier finning during every dive. Forget the uncomfortable "sea horse" positions caused by traditional BCDs and experience a truly streamlined underwater profile.

This comprehensive set includes a Zeos wing, a fullly assembled backplate with harness, and a single tank adapter. You can choose between lightweight aluminium or robust stainless steel backplates depending on your specific needs. Additionally, the system offers two lift capacities: the Zeos 28 or the larger Zeos 38. These options ensure you receive a wing that perfectly matches your body size and equipment configuration.

The XDeep Zeos Wing System is also available in different colours or as a completely custom-made option. If you prefer a harness with pinch clips, you can choose a Zeos Deluxe.

Technical Harness and Hardware

The XDeep Single Loop Harness utilises stiff, water-resistant polyamide webbing to make donning your equipment fast and simple. This abrasion-resistant fabric withstands the harsh effects of seawater, ensuring your gear lasts for many years. Furthermore, the harness includes a crotch strap and solid acid-proof steel D-Rings. These rings feature polished, welded ends that will not deform, even when you carry heavy stage cylinders.

Moreover, the XDeep Backplate effectively distributes weight across your back, reducing the need for heavy lead belts. Because the system arrives fully assembled, you only need to perform minor adjustments for a perfect fit.

You can choose between a lightweight aluminium backplate or a robust 3mm stainless steel model. Generally, the aluminium version suits travelling divers or those using wetsuits. Conversely, the steel backplate weighs 2.5kg, which many dry suit divers prefer.

Zeos with an aluminium backplate comes with an aluminium single tank adapter, while the steel version comes with a stainless steel adapter.

Key Features:

  • Material Choice: Select aluminium for easy travel or 3mm stainless steel for additional diving weight.
  • Heavy-Duty D-Rings: 6mm-section steel rings provide maximum strength for clipping essential accessories and tanks.
  • Improved Trim: The adapter plate keeps the cylinder perfectly aligned with your body for effortless movement.
  • Travel Ready: The plastic buckle cam bands and aluminium plate options offer a lightweight solution for travelling.
  • Modular Setup: Compatible with standard industry backplate components for a fully customisable and professional diving rig.

Product FAQs

Should I get the XDeep Zeos 28 or the Zeos 38?
It's all about lift capacity, not size - the flat-out size difference isn't that significant between the two, with the 38 being slightly larger: 28 lbs/13 Kg Vs. 38 lbs/17 Kg lift. Our most popular wing is, as expected, the 38, which will easily support a steel 15L tank, whether you're in a wetsuit, semi-dry suit, or dry suit with heavy undergarments. It's the go-to size for many cold-water divers.

In the UK or similar waters, where surface swell could be an issue before and after a dive, the 38 is optimal for a heads-up position and provides more lift to handle any in-water surface emergencies.

The 28, on the other hand, is good for warm and temperate waters if you don't require heavy lead or bulky thermal protection. If you're sticking to a 12L (or less capacity) aluminium or steel cylinder.
Should I choose a Stainless Steel or Aluminium backplate?
The rule of thumb used to be stainless steel for a drysuit, aluminium for a wetsuit, or similar. But nothing's set in stone.

If most of your diving is to destinations abroad in warm or temperate waters, the lighter-weight aluminium will keep your gear weight down. And if you want to take some weight off your weight belt in a balanced manner, you can always carry two empty fabric trim weight pockets to add to your tank.

Stainless Steel is best for cold-water diving, adding 2-3 Kg, which allows you to reduce the amount of lead you need to carry on your belt or in your pockets. Most semi-dry and drysuit divers will choose the stainless steel backplate.
How does the modular weighting system work?
The Zeos is designed to reduce the need for extra weight on a traditional weight belt, or even eliminate the need for one. You can configure it with Xdeep Modular Weight Pockets that mount directly onto the harness webbing and backplate at the waist point. These weight pockets are designed to be quick-release (droppable) in an emergency. You can also add trim-weight pockets on the tank straps if you need to fine-tune your trim, but these are not droppable.
Is the "Deluxe" harness worth the extra cost over "Standard"?
It's important to note that a Standard Harness, which we recommend, is a simple, continuous webbing threaded through the backplate and has no break points. It is DIR simplicity, robust, with fewer failure points, and very easy to adjust to your body and whatever you are wearing.

The Deluxe Harness, on the other hand, adds quick-release buckles on both sides of the webbing, creating a break point, shoulder pads, and 3D mesh padding on the backplate.

If the "comfy-pads" don't matter and you're looking for a harness easier to get in and out of, you could always add an Agir Harpa Loop or an Inline Slide Release Buckle to one side of the standard harness without compromise - until you get used to the "continuous loop" harness.
Is the XDeep backplate compatible with other dive gear?
Yes. The Zeos is highly compatible with most standard single-tank adapters, crotch straps, and even other brands of wings or harnesses. It uses industry-standard spacing (11 inches/27.9cm) for the holes in its backplate. This means it if you decide to further customise your rig later, you won't have issues.
Will a wing system make my diving better?
Certainly. We've been delivering diving wing systems to the UK and global communities for over 25 years, and we haven't seen anyone go back to a jacket-style BCD (which we don't even keep in stock or display). We're that confident once you get into a wing, backplate and harness system, you'll feel how comfortable it is on the surface and how your in-water trim, your horizontal position, improves.

The air bladder of a wing is doughnut-shaped, allowing air to circulate without restriction to match your position, and as it's concentrated around the cylinder and your back, it's going to be ever so natural to hold that flat, stable horizontal position on your dives - letting you focus on your dive and enjoy every minute of it.
