Our brick-and-mortar store Underwater Explorers based on Portland, Dorset is open to visitors Friday through Mondays including bank holidays. Although the store front is closed to visits Tuesday through Thursdays, our online store is staffed 7 days a week.

Why Portland?

We’re located on the Isle of Portland (in Dorset) because Portland has been one of the most popular scuba diving locations in the United Kingdom even before we set up operations here back in the year 2000.

On one side, we’re minutes away from the sheltered waters of Portland Marina and Harbour, while on the other, it’s just a brief walk to reach our famous scuba diving destination Chesil Cove and start of the 16-mile-long Chesil Beach.  

Portland’s location makes it ideal for scuba diving, freediving, snorkelling and other surface water sports activities.

Alongside dive clubs, many instructors and dive schools travel here to train and offer scuba diving certification ranging from open water diver to mixed-gas tech diving or rebreather diving levels.

Whether you’re doing a boat dive from Portland Marina or Castletown or a shore dive at Chesil Cove, Portland is well known for offering many possibilities: Reef diving to wreck diving and night diving, underwater photography or underwater videography. In XDeep Weight Pockets, the weight is placed in the inner holder with a user-friendly handle. Such a solution makes carrying and manipulating weight easier and significantly improves safety. You can take out the total content of the pocket at one time and pass it to the boat crew to make it easier to get on the boat without the risk of dropping the weight.

XDeep Weight Pocket are easy to drop

The accidental loss of weight can cause a tragic end. The XDeep Weight Pockets are equipped with very strong and durable buckles resistant to salt water. It is easy to drop the weight in an emergency because of the significant size of the buckle.

Stable mounting

There is probably nothing worse than the unstable weight which moves. The XDeep Weight Pockets are mounted on the waist strap of the harness and screwed down to the plate. This ensures that nothing moves to the sides and the weight remains in its place, even when you turn over to the side, up or down.

Reinforced front edge

In the front part of the pocket, there is a stiff strap with an inner pocket which is always open. It may seem unimportant, but such a solution makes it much easier to put the weight out, especially when you have to do it underwater during training or wearing thick gloves.
