Product FAQs

Does the Peregrine TX support Trimix or Rebreather (CCR) diving modes?
No, the Peregrine TX is designed specifically for recreational and light technical open-circuit divers. It includes Air, Single-Gas Nitrox, Multi-Gas Nitrox (up to 3 gases with 100% O2, and Gauge modes. It does not feature Trimix or CCR modes.

If your diving progression requires helium-based breathing gases or closed-circuit rebreather connectivity, you will need to look at Shearwater’s more advanced models, such as the Perdix 2 Ti or Teric. However, you can still use the Peregrine TX in Gauge mode as a bottom timer for technical or trimix dives down to its maximum depth rating of 120 meters.
How long does the Peregrine TX battery last, can I replace it myself?
The Peregrine TX features a built-in 900mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides up to 30 hours of dive time on a single charge at a medium brightness level. Because the unit is completely sealed to maintain water integrity and allow wireless charging, the battery is not user-replaceable.

If you eventually need to change the battery, Shearwater recommends sending the dive computer to an authorised service centre. Shearwater suggests having the device serviced every two years, at which point the battery can be replaced, and the unit will undergo professional functional and pressure testing.
What decompression algorithm does the Peregrine TX use, can I change it?
The Peregrine TX uses the trusted Bühlmann ZHL-16C algorithm with Gradient Factors, which is the standard algorithm across all Shearwater dive computers. Divers can adjust the conservatism by picking from three built-in presets (low, medium, high) or manually setting custom Gradient Factors.

While alternative algorithms like VPM-B are not supported, the Peregrine TX does support the DCIEM algorithm as an optional paid upgrade. The DCIEM algorithm is based on cold-water, commercial diving data and is favoured by many divers who prefer a different validation model.
How does the multi-transmitter air integration feature work for sidemount diving?
The Peregrine TX can pair with and simultaneously monitor up to four Shearwater Swift transmitters. This makes it an ideal option for sidemount divers who need to track multiple cylinders on a single wrist display without switching between menus.

In sidemount mode, the computer provides specific gas-tracking calculations and alerts. It intelligently notifies you when it is time to switch cylinders and adjusts its gas time remaining (GTR) calculations based on your current breathing rate and cylinder pressure.
What is Shearwater's warranty policy?
Shearwater offers a worldwide 2-year warranty on all products. The warranty lives with the unit, not with the original purchaser. This means that whether you buy your unit from our dealer network or second-hand, the warranty will still be effective.

Shearwater will, at its sole discretion, repair or replace defective products covered under warranty.

Unauthorized repairs, accidental damage, or negligence are not covered by the warranty.

The warranty covers included accessories such as chargers and straps.
