XDeep NX Zen Deluxe Wing System

The XDeep NX Zen Deluxe Wing System is the same as the innovative standard NX Zen, but it includes XDeep 3D Mesh Shoulder Pads and Quick Release buckles, making it easier to don and doff, similar to a standard BC 'jacket'.

This innovative wing system provides 19kg of lift while maintaining a compact size comparable to standard 17kg wings. Furthermore, the "less is more" concept limits wing width to ensure a stable connection to your tank at all times. Additionally, the design focuses on floating the diver comfortably at the surface without compromising your ideal underwater trim.

The narrow profile of the NX Zen wing ensures it does not protrude from the sides of your cylinder. Consequently, this streamlined shape reduces drag and entanglement hazards, which usually improves your overall gas consumption during longer dives.

XDeep NX Zen Deluxe: Applying advanced technology for a new dimension in sports diving.

XDeep NX Zen Deluxe Wing System

XDeep NX Zen Deluxe System Features

  • Innovative Lift: Provides 19kg of lift in a compact frame to enhance buoyancy control and reduce underwater drag.
  • Ergonomic NX Backplate: Features an enlarged upper section to distribute weight better and remove load from the lumbar region.
  • Quick Release Buckles: Easier to don and doff.
  • 3D Mesh Pads: Includes a soft, non-compressive backplate and shoulder pads that adds comfort.
  • V-Shaped Crotch Strap: Distributes load over a larger area for superior comfort while walking or scootering around a reef.
  • Precise Gas Control: Centred inflator position eliminates unwanted gas movement, allowing you to maintain a perfect trim.

Ergonomics and Advanced Harness Design

The Ergonomic NX Backplate rethinks traditional anatomy to significantly improve the diver's experience. The backplate design has resulted in major improvements in donning and doffing the system.

By evenly distributing the load, the design allows for optimal attachment of weight pockets and various diving accessories. Both the aluminium and stainless steel bakplates come in two sizes, with a larger option recommended for divers over 175cm.

The unique V-shaped crotch strap uses two attachment points to prevent sideways slippage and provide a stable platform. Instead of a single centre ring, the harness features two Cargo D-Rings set off to each side. These rings provide much easier access to your clipped-off gear, making your diving tasks more efficient and safer in any environment.

Product FAQs

What is the overall weight and lift of the NX Zen Deluxe?
The specifications between the Zen Deluxe and Standard are identical. Full set weight is 3.0 Kg. Dry weight of the BC without the harness is 1.1 Kg. The wings have 19 Kg. lift capacity fr up to one 18L cylinder. If you're travelling, you're only adding 3.0 Kg for the system, and the wing can be folded down.
What are the main differences between the XDeep NX Zen Deluxe and Standard?
Most of the specs of the two systems are identical, except for four. Harness: The Standard has a one-piece (continuous loop) DIR-style webbing harness without break points or buckles on the side. You adjust it to fit your body and what you're wearing properly, and can fine-tune it if anything changes, such as switching from a drysuit to a wetsuit. The Deluxe, due to the buckles used on both sides, does not utilise a one-piece harness webbing. Adjustment: The Standard harness is adjusted with its tri-glides. The Deluxe harness is adjusted with the ITW Nexus QR Buckles. Quick Release: Not having buckles, the Standard does not have this ability, whereas the Deluxe has the two quick-release (QR) buckles. Shoulder Strap Padding: Included with the Deluxe version and optional with the Standard wing system.
Is the waist harness of the NX Zen at a higher level than traditional harness and backplates?
Yes. If you're used to a jacket-style BCD or a traditional harness system, you'll find the waist webbing riding higher than usual. The waist harness on the Xdeep NX Zen is positioned higher than on a traditional wing system due to a complete "deconstruction" of backplate geometry. This isn't just a stylistic choice; it is a functional shift designed to move the system's centre of gravity and improve ergonomics both in and out of the water.

The enlarged upper section of the backplate and a lower flare transfer the weight away from the lumbar spine and distribute it more evenly across the stable parts of the back. This height and unique geometry are designed to prevent your cylinder from wobbling or moving side to side during a dive. Also, the V-shape crotch strap requires the waist strap to be at a specific height to create a proper tensioning angle, pulling the shoulder straps down when the buckle is tightened. Furthermore, by moving the waist strap higher (closer to the natural waist rather than the hips), the system is designed to transfer the weight away from the lumbar spine and distribute it more evenly across the stable parts of the back.
Is the XDeep NX Zen Deluxe DIR?
No. Instead of a one-piece continuous loop harness webbing without break points, it has quick-release buckles on both sides. If you're looking for a DIR-style wing system, check that the webbing does not have break points. Most leading manufacturers provide wing systems to DIR specs. Halcyon and XDeep are definitely the top brands in the field.
Can I use the XDeep NX Zen "Wing" for twinset diving?
No. The system, as in the backplate and harness with crotch strap, is certainly future-proof for twinset diving. But the wing is carefully crafted and shaped narrowly only for single-tank diving. While the most popular twinset wings also have 40 Lbs of lift, the specific design of the Zen wing won't allow you to fully utilise that lift in a streamlined fashion without trapping a significant amount of air, leading to far less buoyancy, which would most likely also damage the wing.

If you're considering transitioning to twinsets in the future, all you need to do is get a purpose-made twinset wing sized for doubles (both in shape and the middle section of the doughnut-bladder) and with minimal air trapping, maximum circulation for trim and surface support. XDeep wings use industry-standard spacing (11 inches/27.9cm) for the holes in its backplate and wings. This means it is highly compatible with a variety of wing brands, single-tank adapters, and crotch straps.
Can I change the NX Zen Deluxe harness to a one-piece webbing?
Yes, in the future, if you want to switch to a one-piece solid "continuous loop harness", all you need to do is convert it to a standard DIR harness by removing the pads, swapping out the QR hardware for standard tri-glides, and threading the webbing through the backplate without break points.
