Scubapro MK25 EVO A700 Carbon Black Tech Regulator

The Scubapro MK25 EVO A700 Carbon Black Tech regulator offers both superior breathing and an advanced design. This premium regulator leads the market in material innovation. It's built for both speed and toughness, much like a race car or a battle tank.

Second Stage: A700 Carbon Black Tech

The A700 Carbon casing is full metal, ensuring an excellent heat exchange rate. Therefore, it's a great choice for cold-water diving. Its front cover is handmade from carbon fibre, the same material found in aircraft and high-speed race cars. Carbon fibre is extremely lightweight. Also, it resists substantial shocks without damage, unlike metal.

Despite its lighter weight, the A700 Carbon delivers the same powerful performance as the all-metal A700 second stage. Its air-balanced valve technology works with an oversized exhaust valve and a well-designed exhaust tee. Furthermore, a first-rate purge and responsive user controls provide effortless inhalation and unmatched exhalation ease. This creates a tech-tough breather that's lighter and tougher.

First Stage: MK25 EVO Carbon Black Tech

The A700 Carbon pairs with the MK25 EVO, widely considered the gold standard for first-stage performance. This air-balanced flow-through piston design provides consistent and effortless airflow. It performs well regardless of depth, tank pressure, or breathing rate. The MK25 EVO features an ultra-freeze-resistant Extended Thermal Insulating System (XTIS). This system offers excellent thermal insulation by isolating mechanical elements from the cold. It achieves this without compromising breathing performance.

Advanced Protection and Design

A DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) Black Tech coating finishes this premium air delivery system. This unique coating applies to both the first and second stages. Not only does it offer a sleek, technical look, but its scratch- and corrosion-resistant properties also protect the regulator. This safeguards the reg against the stresses of technical diving and saltwater environments.

Key Highlights:

  • Hand-made carbon fibre front cover for extreme lightness and durability.
  • DLC Black Tech coating protects from corrosion and scratches.
  • Air-balancing smooths inhalation effort across varying depths and pressures.
  • Patented XTIS improves cold-water resistance by 30%.
  • Five high-flow low-pressure ports on a swivel turret for optimised hose routing.

Weight and Performance:

  • A700 Carbon Black Tech Second Stage (without mouthpiece): 8.0oz/228g
  • Airflow at 2900psi/200bar: 2000 l/ min - 71 SCFM
  • MK25 EVO Carbon Black Tech First Stage (INT 232): 790g; (DIN 300): 570g
  • Airflow at 2900psi/200bar: >8500 l/min / 301 SCFM
  • Intermediate pressure: 133-142 psi / 9.2-9.8 bar

DIN or A-clamp first stage?

Most of our divers prefer DIN fitting on the 1st stage regulator. A DIN regulator has a threaded post which screws into the inside of a DIN tank valve and has no additional metal or braces that run behind the valve. This, together with the position of its o-ring, creates a more secure seal on the tank.

YOKE (or A-Clamp) 1st stages have an oblong metal brace that completely encircles the tank valve when in place and is screwed down on the tank valve when the yoke screw is tightened.

Both regulators seal to the scuba tank through an o-ring where the o-ring on a Yoke valve is in the tank valve itself as opposed to DIN regulators with their own o-ring.

DIN fittings are commonly accepted as more secure, but Yoke valves are common throughout North America and recreational tourist destinations. A DIN regulator can be adapted to Yoke valves by using an A-clamp adapter for travel.
