The Scubapro Hydros Pro 2 BCD is a next-generation, modular wing-style BCD that builds on the original Hydros Pro, focusing on improved comfort, faster drying, easier travel, and smarter weight handling. The mini-size Monorail Weight Pockets included hold up to 2.25kg per side.

Its Ergo-Lite Backplate is 25% lighter than the original. It features an innovative Monorail Weight System, Instant Dry technology, and a new Super Cinch 2 tank band for a lightweight, customisable, and travel-friendly diving experience in warm or cold water.

What is the difference between Hydros Pro and Hydros Pro 2?
The Hydros Pro 2 builds on the original modular back-inflation platform with several key engineering, material, and weight updates:

• Monorail Weight System: Replaces the older weight pocket insertion design with a notched rail system that allows weight pockets to slide on, lock securely, and be ditched with a single-handed pull.

• Ergo-Lite Back Plate: Redesigned to be 25% lighter than the original back plate, featuring improved body-contouring, flex zones for natural movement, and top/bottom handles for easier handling.

• Heavy-Duty Quick-Dry Bladder: Uses an Instant Dry fabric coating that repels water, reducing post-dive water retention and drying significantly faster for travel.

• Tri-Bungee Retraction System: Uses a 2-stage inflation bungee setup that keeps the air cell compact underwater and lowers drag while maintaining full surface lift.

Is the Hydros Pro 2 suitable for dive travel?
Yes, it is specifically engineered for travel diving and is one of the lightest and most compact travel wing kits out there. Features that make it travel-ready include:

• Low Post-Dive Weight: The fabric-free Monprene® harness and quick-dry bladder do not absorb water, ensuring your gear stays light when packing up after a dive trip.

• Smart-Pack Folding: The shoulder and waist straps fold flat, allowing the entire harness structure to fold inside the wing's footprint.

• Included Travel Bag: It comes with a dedicated BCD Carry Backpack designed to fit and carry the folded Hydros Pro 2.
Is the Hydros Pro 2 also suitable for cold-water or drysuit diving?
Yes. While often highlighted for its lightweight travel features, you can use it in cold-water environments.

If your regular diving is in cold water and using drysuit, we would advise considering a more traditional wing setup based on a webbing harness and a two-layer wing made out of an inner bladder and outer protective shell such as the Xdeep Zeos, Zeos Deluxe or similar.

The Hydros Pro 2 offers:

High Lift & Ballast: With up to 40 lbs of lift, it can handle the extra weight and buoyancy requirements of thick neoprene or drysuit undergarments.

Self-Adjusting Torso Flex Zones: The Monprene® harness features dynamic flex zones and articulated shoulder straps that automatically expand and contract. You can switch between a 3mm tropical suit and a bulky drysuit without tedious strap readjustments.

Zero Buoyancy Retention: Because the harness and quick-dry bladder absorb no water, the BCD adds zero positive buoyancy, meaning you don't need to carry extra lead just to submerge a waterlogged harness.
How does the new Monorail Weight System work?
The Monorail system replaces traditional fabric weight sleeves with a rigid slide-and-lock mechanism:

• Attachment: Weight pockets slide onto a notched track until you feel and hear an audible click confirming they are locked in place.

• Release: In an emergency or during boat hand-offs, pulling the integrated grey D-handles releases the pockets smoothly with one hand.

• Sizing Options: Standard weight pockets (up to 10 lbs / 4.5 kg per pocket) and are compatible with optional Mini travel weight pockets (up to 5 lbs / 2.3 kg per pocket). Rear dorsal trim pockets on the tank band can provide additional ballast balancing.

What material is the wing and harness made of?
The Harness (Monprene® Gel): The shoulder straps, waist belt, back pad, and skeletal weight mounts contain no standard woven nylon webbing, foam padding, or Velcro. Instead, they are moulded entirely out of Monprene elastomer.

This is what gives the harness its soft, rubbery grip against your exposure suit, preventing water absorption and making it immune to UV or chlorine degradation.

The Wing: The wing is the actual inflatable back-inflation air bladder. It is made from a heavy-duty, double-coated fabric bladder treated with an "Instant Dry" water-repellent coating, and reinforced with Cordura® fabric in high-wear zones (such as the dorsal trim weight areas) to resist scrapes against rocks or wrecks.
How much lift capacity and total weight can the Hydros Pro 2 carry?
Lift Capacity: Depending on the size (XS through 2XL), the back-inflation wing delivers between 36 lbs (16.3 kg) and 40 lbs (18.1 kg) of surface lift. The Tri-Bungee retraction system keeps the air cell streamlined underwater while expanding to full volume at the surface.

Integrated Lead Capacity: Main Monorail Pockets: Standard pockets hold up to 10 lbs (4.5 kg) per side (20 lbs / 9 kg total). Optional Mini travel pockets hold up to 5 lbs (2.25 kg) per side.

Rear Trim Pockets: Fixed onto the tank band, these hold up to 5 lbs (2.25 kg) per pocket (10 lbs / 4.5 kg total) for fine-tuning trim.
