OrcaTorch D630 V2.0 Tech Dive Light

The OrcaTorch D630 V2.0 Tech Dive Light is a perfect canister dive light for wreck, cave and sidemount diving with a super-focus 7º beam and a maximum output of 4,000 lumens providing 6000 Kelvin of light for up to an approximate 5 hours of runtime in its brightest mode. It has 3 power modes and an adjustable-angle cable from the battery that can be used at 90º or 180º.

The lowest setting of the OrcaTorch power mode will give you over 20 hours of burn time and a visible LED indicator to monitor battery level. The battery also has a USB-C port to support charging other instruments, such as mobile phones, on the surface.

The light cable is adjustable at the canister end, allowing 90 ° and 180 ° rotation, making it ideal for both side-mount and back-mount diving. Each end of the cable also has strain relievers to prevent accidental damage.

The OrcaTorch D630 V2.0 Tech Dive Light comes with an adjustable, protective Goodman handle that can be folded to the front of the light head, protecting the light head during transport.

Constructed from aircraft-grade high-strength aluminium alloy, the torch boasts a diamond-grade, hard-anodised, seawater-corrosion-resistant finish and is depth-rated to 150 metres.

Features we love

We loved the most popular OrcaTorch D630 version one, and now OrcaTorch introduces the same reliability, robust structure, and power in Version 2.0, with an upgraded low-profile titanium alloy switch.

What's so special about the D630?

Firstly, it offers a really powerful light output with multiple modes, very long battery life, robust aluminium construction, and is still lightweight with a great feel. The 90-180º angle cable routing from the canister allows for various backmount, sidemount and CCR configurations.

Other highlights of this unit include secure sealing of canister battery (long thread, triple o-rings), low profile switch, adjustable Goodman handle that can fold back onto the light head for transport protection, 7-degree beam (more like 9-10º in use) surrounded by a wider 'halo' that covers most situations as well as underwater signalling.

Answers to common questions about this product, including sizing, compatibility, and usage.

Product FAQs

What is the actual burn time of the D630 V2.0 on the High setting?
On the High setting (4000 lumens), the D630 V2.0 should provide a consistent 5-hour burn time*.

Because technical dives often involve decompression, the light is engineered with a regulated power supply to ensure the brightness doesn't "dim" halfway through your bottom time. On the Low setting (460 lumens), the burn time extends to a massive 23 hours, making it an excellent choice for multi-day expeditions without a recharge.

*A number of factors will influence burn times stated by manufacturers. These include, but are not limited to, battery cycle life and age, ambient temperature, battery chemistry and heat dissipation.
What are the primary upgrades in the V2.0 compared to the original OrcaTorch D630?
The popular V2.0 upgrade focuses specifically on the power delivery system and cable durability. The connection between the canister and the light head has been reinforced with a more robust, abrasion-resistant cable to prevent "flicker" during heavy use. Additionally, the internal electronics have been optimised for a more stable beam pattern and faster charging via the internal battery pack.
Can the D630 V2.0 canister be mounted horizontally, and how long is the cable?
Yes, the canister is designed for versatility. It includes a 90°-adjustable cable connector that lets you mount the canister either vertically or horizontally. The cable is approximately 1.2 meters (3.9 feet) long, providing enough slack for unrestricted movement when using a long-hose primary donate configuration, reaching for stage cylinders or mounting on a rebreather.
How does the D630 V2.0 prevent the light from turning on accidentally?
OrcaTorch utilises a safety lock function. By holding the side switch for 5 seconds when the light is off, you "lock" the head. The light will only flash twice to signal that it is locked. This is a critical feature for technical divers to ensure they don't arrive at the dive site with a drained battery after the light was bumped in a kit bag (or worse, the heat burning through a dive bag!)
Can I buy a replacement battery for the D630?
Yes, but it may have to be ordered in from the manufacturer. The battery is actually screwed into the canister and can be user-removable and replaced.
How does the D630 compare with the Orcatorch D620?
While both are high-quality canister lights, they are designed with different diving profiles in mind. The Orcatorch D620 is a streamlined, lightweight "travel" canister light, whereas the D630 is a heavy-duty, extremely reliable and powerful, technical tool designed for longer durations and harsher conditions.

The D620 is a compact light operated by four 18650 Li-ion batteries. It offers a maximum output of 2,700 lumens with a burn time of approximately 2.5 hours on high.

Weight: At only 681g (without batteries), it is significantly lighter and easier to pack for overseas trips. Simplicity: Uses standard 18650 batteries, which are easy to replace or swap. Price: Generally more budget-friendly for those moving from a handheld to their first canister light. Battery Life: The 2.5 hours at max lumens is ample for recreational dives, but may not cover a full day of repetitive technical diving or long deco stops.

But if you're looking for a serious, compact, lightweight and powerful travel light and don't really need the cable, we'd recommend you take a look at the Orca 7 dive light.
