MTX-RC First Stage is cold water rated

The Apeks MTX-RC first stage has a unique over-balanced diaphragm design. As the diver descends, the over-balancing feature allows the medium pressure gas in the hose to increase faster rate than ambient. This results in superior performance at depth.

Why choose a long hose configuration on a single cylinder?
A long hose setup (2.1m primary, 60cm backup) is a standard DIR (Do It Right) configuration encouraged by leading training agencies, as it allows a diver to donate their primary regulator in an out-of-gas emergency. In this scenario, the donor switches to a backup regulator in a bungee necklace under his or her chin.

The 2.1m hose allows divers to ascend face-to-face with total control of the ascent without being restricted by the old school "Octopus, and is preferred for overhead environments where divers may have to exit one behind the other. Is the Apeks MTX-RC first stage cold water rated?
Yes. The MTX-RC features an over-moulded environmental diaphragm and a heat-exchanging ribbed body that protect against ice build-up and free-flow in water temperatures below 10°C, making it suitable for UK and cold-water diving year-round.
Does the MTX-RC Long Hose Set come in A-clamp (yoke) as well as DIN?
This set is supplied with a DIN first stage, which is regarded as more robust and safer than an A-Clamp (Yoke) first stage. DIN is preferred for technical and long hose configurations due to its more secure connection at higher cylinder pressures. A-clamp conversion is possible with optional DIN-to-yoke adapters if required for travel.

Unless you're using an older cylinder with an older Yoke-type cylinder valve, new cylinders come with DIN valves, and if there is a DIN insert in the valve, it can be easily removed with an Allen Key.
What does DIN mean and why is it better than A-clamp (Yoke)?
In scuba diving, DIN stands for Deutsche Industrie Norm (German Institute for Standardisation). It refers to the German-engineered threaded connector that screws directly into the scuba cylinder valve.

Unlike the standard "Yoke" (A-clamp) fitting, which clamps over the outside of the tank valve, a DIN regulator has a long threaded post that screws directly into the valve. The rubber O-ring is seated on the regulator itself rather than the tank valve.

Benefits of DIN include: higher pressure capacity (300 Bar), increased safety against drops, bumps, or leakage, and a streamlined profile.
