The Apeks MTX-R Regulator is based on the MTX, a regulator that was developed in accordance with the United States Navy Experimental Dive Unit extreme cold water test. Innovations in design mean that the MTX-R regulator performs in almost freezing water, something that very few other regulators on the consumer market can boast.

The military has been using Apeks regulators for over 20 years and now Apeks have put that military expertise into a brand new military specification regulator, exclusively for the consumer market. The “M” in MTX stands for Military and the “R” for recreational version and the new MTX-R is based on the MTX, a regulator that was developed in accordance with the United States Navy Experimental Dive Unit extreme cold water test.

Innovations in design mean that the MTX-R regulator performs in almost freezing water at a depth of over 60 metres, something that very few other regulators on the consumer market can boast. Tested for octopus use to 60m in cold water, this regulator set from Apeks is truly unique. The MTX-R is not just an extremely reliable regulator but also very easy to service “ in the field”.

Apeks MTX-R Regulator Set includes:
1 x Apeks MTX-R Second Stage
1 x Apeks MTX-R First Stage
1 x Apeks MTX-R Octopus
1 x Apeks Flexi yellow Octopus Hose
1 x Apeks Flexi Regulator Hose

Apeks MTX-R Second Stage

The reversible (right and left hand) second stage of the MTX-R has a redesigned and enlarged, patented, heat exchanger which surrounds the valve mechanism, dissipating the cold caused by gas expansion.

Metal has also been incorporated into the front cover. Large protective elastometer bumpers on the sides and top protect the 2nd stage, which comes with a comfo-bite mouthpiece.
In addition to its extreme cold water ability, the regulator is rugged, strong and designed to withstand the knocks and bumps that come with life on an expedition.

  • Simple to use Second Stage with no dive adjustment controls and a reduced chance of free flow.
  • Reversible (left or right hand)
  • Patented heat exchanger surrounds the valve mechanism, dissipating the cold caused by gas expansion while drawing in the warmth of the ambient water.
  • Comes with comfort-bite mouthpiece

“In short, it looks the business, performs like a champ, and doesn’t break the bank. What more could you want from a top-level regulator?” (Mark Evans, Scubalab Test Extra, Sport Diver magazine, January 2017)

Apeks MTX-R First Stage

Leading features of the first stage include a world-first over-moulded first-stage end cap to the sealed (environmental) diaphragm helping prevent ice buildup that could cause first stage free flow in extreme circumstances.

The forged first stage body gives maximum thermal performance while a ribbed diaphragm clamp on the first stage further ensures improved heat exchange in cold water conditions.

  • A first of its kind, over-moulded first-stage end cap and environmental diaphragm to prevent ice build-up that could cause a free flow in extreme circumstances.
  • Forged 1st stage body for maximum thermal performance.
  • Ribbed diaphragm clamp on 1st stage to ensure improved heat exchange in cold water conditions.
  • Angled (2) HP ports allow for optimal hose routing and transmitter fitting.
  • 5 intermediate pressure ports (with fifth covered with protective white number while not in use)
  • Parallel turret ports allow for improved hose orientation.
  • Superb protection from impact damage

“In use, the MTX-R provides a sublime breath, inhalation is effortless and silky smooth, regardless of orientation” (Mark Evans, Scubalab Test Extra, Sport Diver magazine, January 2017).
