Leading features of the Apeks MTX-R first stage regulator includes a world-first over-moulded first-stage end cap to the sealed (environmental) diaphragm helping prevent ice buildup that could cause first stage free flow in extreme circumstances.
An environmentally sealed dry chamber prevents water from coming into contact with the first stage spring to stop freezing.
The forged first stage body gives maximum thermal performance while a ribbed diaphragm clamp on the first stage further ensures improved heat exchange in cold water conditions.
The Apeks MTX-R first stage regulator is over balanced for maximum performance at depth.
Rotating turret allows for reduced hose tension and for optimum hose positions and comfort.
The two angled HP ports of Apeks MTX-R first stage allow for optimal hose routing and transmitter fitting.
Five intermediate pressure ports (with the fifth covered with a protective white number while not in use). Parallel turret ports allow for improved hose orientation.
The military has been using Apeks regulators for over 20 years and now Apeks have put that military expertise into a brand new military specification regulator, exclusively for the consumer market. The “M” in MTX stands for Military and the “R” for recreational version and the new MTX-R is based on the MTX, a regulator that was developed in accordance with the United States Navy Experimental Dive Unit extreme cold water test.
Innovations in design mean that the MTX-R regulator performs in almost freezing water at a depth of over 60 metres, something that very few other regulators on the consumer market can boast. Tested for octopus use to 60m in cold water, this regulator set from Apeks is truly unique.
