As it's an active store visited by divers from around the country and world regularly, if we can't make it to the phone for any reason please leave a message and we'll get back to you asap.

Any queries are usually answered the very same day and at most within 24 hours.

Why Portland?

We’re located on the Isle of Portland (in Dorset) because Portland has been one of the most popular scuba diving locations in the United Kingdom even before we set up operations here back in the year 2000.

On one side, we’re minutes away from the sheltered waters of Portland Marina and Harbour, while on the other, it’s just a brief walk to reach our famous scuba diving destination Chesil Cove and start of the 16-mile-long Chesil Beach.

Portland’s location makes it ideal for scuba diving, freediving, snorkelling and other surface water sports activities.

Check out how many wrecks we have around here by clicking on Scimitar Diving's Wreck & Dive Sites chart!

Alongside dive clubs, many instructors and dive schools travel here to train and offer scuba diving certification ranging from open water diver to mixed-gas tech diving or rebreather diving levels.

Whether you’re doing a boat dive from Portland Marina or Castletown or a shore dive at Chesil Cove, Portland is well known for offering many possibilities: Reef diving to wreck diving and night diving, underwater photography or underwater videography. Anything other than cave diving is possible here.

Likely being the best-stocked diving shop in the UK, at Underwater Explorers we offer in-store scuba diving equipment advice and sales, as well as gas fills, to locals and visitors (read About Us).

But... If you’re googling “scuba diving shop near me” like some, look no further, there's DirDirect online.

Here at DirDirect, we list our cutting-edge equipment for worldwide delivery and we’ve got you covered whatever your level of diving: We’re your local dive store wherever you are in the world.

All that with over 20 years of experience especially in technical diving, from training to equipment, advice and sales.

The Scubapro MK19 EVO G260 Carbon Black Tech Regulator system features Scubapro’s MK19 EVO, finished in a special ultra-durable Black Tech coating, and an upgraded version of Scubapro’s most popular tech diving second stage, the G260. While retaining its large diaphragm, internal metal components and high-flow exhaust valve for excellent breathing sensitivity and resistance to freezing, the

G260 Carbon BT second stage ratchets up its ruggedness and durability with the addition of a carbon fiber front cover. Lightweight and extremely durable, if dropped or struck against a hard object, carbon fiber can resist substantial shocks without damage. Both first and second stages feature the Black Tech DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating on their metal parts.

Scubapro MK19 EVO G260 Carbon Black Tech Regulator includes

  • Scubapro G260 Carbon Black Tech second stage
  • Scubapro MK19 EVO Black Tech first stage
  • Scubapro High-flow regulator hose

G260 Carbon Black Tech second stage

  • Stylish and durable carbon fiber front cover and reinforced technopolymer casing can withstand years of aggressive diving.

  • The lightweight carbon fiber design is 24 grams lighter than the standard G260, making it more comfortable for those long diving days.
  • Durable Black Tech DLC coating on metal parts protects against the ravages of salt water and corrosion and minor scratches.

  • Internal metal components, including the air barrel and valve inlet tube, increase resistance to freezing when diving in extreme conditions.

  • Air-balanced valve evens out the inhalation effort at varying depths and supply pressures.

  • Water circulation holes in the front cover enhance underwater breathing smoothness.
  • High-flow exhaust valve reduces exhalation effort for better overall breathing comfort.

  • A diver-adjustable inhalation effort knob fine-tunes air delivery to suit changing depths,
water conditions and personal tastes.

  • Venturi-Initiated Vacuum Assist (VIVA) dive/pre-dive switch prevents free flow in cold
water or when used as an octopus.

  • The large spring-based purge button is easy to use, even when wearing thick gloves.

  • Reversible LP hose attachment makes adjusting hose routing for any diving
configuration easy.

  • The super-flow hose features an oversized bore that allows more airflow on each inhalation.

  • The ultra-comfortable orthodontic mouthpiece is easy to grip yet doesn’t inhibit airflow.

  • CE certified according to the latest EN250A European Standards for all diving conditions,
including extreme cold water below 4°C

  • Weight (without mouthpiece): 244g

MK19 EVO Black Tech first stage

  • Designed to be the ultimate first stage for cold water or contaminated diving conditions.
  • Durable Black Tech DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating protects against the ravages of salt water and corrosion as well as minor scratches

  • Air-balanced flow-through piston in a nickel plated brass body coated with DLC process, provides constant and effortless airflow unaffected by depth, tank pressure, or breathing rate

  • Environmentally sealed system prevents water and pollutants from fouling the inner mechanism and is extremely resistant to freezing.

  • The dry chamber is equipped with a double spring making it more compact and reliable.

  • Two opposing high pressure ports allow the first stage to be positioned either up or down, plus provide for an optimum hose/transmitter layout.
  • Swivel turret comes with four High-Flow LP ports plus one axial Super High-Flow LP port for technical diving layouts.

  • Weight: INT 232 885g; DIN 300 665g
  • Airflow at 200bar: >8500 l/min

  • Intermediate pressure: 9.2-9.8 bar

DIN or A-clamp first stage?

Most of our divers prefer DIN fitting on the 1st stage regulator. A DIN regulator has a threaded post which screws into the inside of a DIN tank valve and has no additional metal or braces that run behind the valve. This, together with the position of its o-ring, creates a more secure seal on the tank.

YOKE (or A-Clamp) 1st stages have an oblong metal brace that completely encircles the tank valve when in place and is screwed down on the tank valve when the yoke screw is tightened.

Both regulators seal to the scuba tank through an o-ring where the o-ring on a Yoke valve is in the tank valve itself as opposed to DIN regulators with their own o-ring.

DIN fittings are commonly accepted as more secure, but Yoke valves are common throughout North America and recreational tourist destinations. A DIN regulator can be adapted to Yoke valves by using an A-clamp adapter for travel.
