Any queries are usually answered the very same day and at most within 24 hours.

Why Portland?

We’re located on the Isle of Portland (in Dorset) because Portland has been one of the most popular scuba diving locations in the United Kingdom even before we set up operations here back in the year 2000.

On one side, we’re minutes away from the sheltered waters of Portland Marina and Harbour, while on the other, it’s just a brief walk to reach our famous scuba diving destination Chesil Cove and start of the 16-mile-long Chesil Beach.

Portland’s location makes it ideal for scuba diving, freediving, snorkelling and other surface water sports activities.

Check out how many wrecks we have around here by clicking on Scimitar Diving's Wreck & Dive Sites chart!

Alongside dive clubs, many instructors and dive schools travel here to train and offer scuba diving certification ranging from open water diver to mixed-gas tech diving or rebreather diving levels.

Whether you’re doing a boat dive from Portland Marina or Castletown or a shore dive at Chesil Cove, Portland is well known for offering many possibilities: Reef diving to wreck diving and night diving, underwater photography or underwater videography. Anything other than cave diving is possible here.

Likely being the best-stocked diving shop in the UK, at Underwater Explorers we offer in-store scuba diving equipment advice and sales, as well as gas fills, to locals and visitors (read About Us).

But... If you’re googling “scuba diving shop near me” like some, look no further, there's DirDirect online.

Here at DirDirect, we list our cutting-edge equipment for worldwide delivery and we’ve got you covered whatever your level of diving: We’re your local dive store wherever you are in the world.

All that with over 20 years of experience especially in technical diving, from training to equipment, advice and sales.

The She-P 3.0 allows female divers to comfortably use a P-valve while diving in a drysuit instead of diapers.

The She-P is a soft silicone device featuring a reservoir with an ‘output’ tube with flexible ‘wings’ designed to adhere to the skin with a medical adhesive intended for use with prosthetic devices. This results in a proper seal and comfortable urinating.

People are spending more time underwater due to better drysuits and cylinder configurations. If you stay properly hydrated, there will be a time when nature will eventually call.

However, it works perfectly for other sports, where peeing is not always possible for longer periods of time, like long-distance car racing, gliding, kite surfing, or any other sport.

Now, you can be like one of the boys, diving longer and being more comfortable during races, gliding, kite surfing, and any other sport you can’t stop to take a break.

Before the dive

Apply the adhesive (Uro-Bond V) on the whole contact area.

Put it on (shave before use!) and hold approx. 30 seconds. Be sure that the back is secured or taped very well.

Use some tape (if you want) or fix it with your underwear (two G-strings work fine).

Connect the p-valve with the She-P connection and open the valve outside your drysuit before use.

Pee before the dive (in the water or on land) to be sure it is well placed and your P-valve works fine.

Place a small diaper or super-absorbent sanitary towel to be absolutely safe for the first dives.

After the dive

Use some tape or plug (if you don’t use a quick disconnector) to close it. Now you will not spill and wet your underwear while you change clothes.

The outside part of the She-P contact area is fragile and can tear, be careful when you remove it.

Remove the adhesive from your skin and She-P: Use the removal pads. Baby oil for your skin is very nice. Be sure you remove the oil before applying your She-P for the next dive.

Be sure everything is disinfected before the next use. Rinse very well to avoid irritation.

The P-valve in your drysuit must also be flushed with lots of clean water or vinegar.
