URSUIT X-TEX FINFILL • 0.83 or 1.97 CLO Flexible but warm: Finnfill insulation is the most distinctive property
of X-Tex Heavy Finnfill undersuit. Developed
with the most renowned research institutes and polymere
manufacturers in the world, Ursuit Finnfill undersuits are made to keep you warm and dry whatever the conditions are.
200 or 400?
The insulation of X-Tex Finnfill is measured in
international Clo-units that show the true insulation properties if the material and suit. In
the all season 'Heavy' model the CLO grade is 1.97 while the 'Light' version is 0.83 CLO. By way of comparison, a 200gsm thinsulate has a Clo value of 0.6 while a 400gsm thinsulate has a Clo value of 1.3.

What makes Finfill unique are:
Finfill material does not lose its insulation capacity even after many washes as opposed to thinsulate and regular wadding.
Even better, it actually gains thermal properties when dry cleaned.
Finnfill insulating material does not break up like
most cotton-wool insulating materials, and therefore it does not
either get lumpy or flattened during use or washing.
It also keeps the main part of its insulation capacity when completely wet.

Heat loss comparison*
Infrared photography
reveals heat losses through Finfill and comparative Thinsulate 3m.
Thermography is an ideal technique for studying the heat flows from
the human body through the clothing to the cold environment. The pictures here demonstrate the cold protection properties of
Finnfill and Thinsulate microfibre insulator (3M). The top pictures
were taken when the garments - all of same design - were new. The
pictures underneath were taken after five washes at 40C. The shades
of the pictures illustrate the sites and amount of heat loss (see
scale). These pictures confirm other research results indicating
Finnfill’s superior stability during laundering. In contrast to the
other materials, heat is not lost through Finnfill, even after
laundering. For more information and comparison charts download our 4-page PDF Ursuit Finnfill Specifications brochure.

Underwater ExplorersDirDirect is a world-leading online dive shop run by Underwater Explorers based in Portland, Dorset, UK. Underwater Explorers is a dive centre with a striking difference. It was born out of the concept of "Hogarthian" diving, safe and streamlined equipment configuration, using the most robust products available for recreational and technical diving -- but at the same time, keeping it simple. It is based on the concept of "less is more" in diving and acts as an equipment outlet, training facility and source of sound advice.
